Archbishop Kaziimba Urges Ugandans to Embrace Unity After Elections

The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Rev. Dr. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, has urged Ugandans to remain united across political divides and accept election outcomes peacefully.

Addressing Christians at St. Andrew’s Cathedral Seseme in Kisoro District, Archbishop Kaziimba said those who feel disappointed after elections should seek spiritual healing and restoration through the Church, which he described as “God’s rehabilitation centre.”

The Archbishop made the remarks during his visit to Muhabura Diocese as part of his farewell tour ahead of his retirement in August 2027, in line with the Church of Uganda Constitution, which sets the retirement age for the Archbishop at 65 years.

Kaziimba, who has led the Church of Uganda since 2020, reminded Christians that God remains above political differences and other human divisions.

"God is above all human differences, including Arsenal and Liverpool, or political affiliations. Trust in Jesus and focus on serving God, not post-election divisions," Kaziimba said.

He called on Ugandans to prioritize peace, forgiveness and cooperation regardless of political affiliation.

The Archbishop also encouraged collaboration between Anglicans and Christians from other denominations, saying unity is essential for national development.
